Descrizione
Morfologia
The cave opens through a porch of fairly large dimensions: 6 metres wide by 5 metres high. The floor is covered with blocks of various sizes, in which the entrance crawlway opens.
The general direction of the cavity is NE-SW, formed along a bedding joint (dip 30° E-W). In the first gallery, the inclined excavation is very well marked. a crawlway formed by a detached slab gives access to a large collapse chamber.
In the chamber, only the inclined profile remains at the top. At the bottom, a bed has collapsed along a vertical fracture, forming a small side passage with no apparent later excavation.
The gallery continues with the same profile, then straightens to 45° and ends at a calcite plug. At the top, a shaft was cleared by the speleologists of Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet, but a narrow fissure interrupted the work.
The development of the cavity takes place in compact grey limestones of the Lower Lias.
Concrezioni
No activity was noted: no active concretions and no draught of air, except in the cave-aven connection.
Idrologia
An aven leads into the chamber, appearing to be an ancient sink of the Agly. The cave must have been excavated by waters draining the upper plateau and by an ancient sink of the Agly.
