Caratteristiche

Località

You must follow the path that from the font de les Rovires climbs up to the area where the whole concentration of crevices of the same name is found; crevice no. 2 is located about 10 metres from the escletxa de les Rovires no. 3, at the base of a small step and at the bottom of a funnel.

Another more viable access is from carrer Via de la Farigola; at the end of this street a track starts which, after covering one kilometre, has a path branching off to the right that leads us to the area of the crevices.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Through a narrow passage opened between blocks, you descend a first step followed by another of 4 metres; at the base a gallery about 10 metres long begins. At the end of this, at a bend, a pit of -6 metres opens up, at the base of which we find two continuations. Climbing a wall we find a small rounded chamber where an impenetrable pit occupies the floor. The obvious continuation is found in a gallery of inclined and very narrow section, with large blocks embedded in the walls in precarious balance. In the lower part of the gallery a passage opened between blocks allows us to descend about 8 metres until ending at -22 metres deep. Continuing along the aforementioned inclined gallery, we will reach its end where it makes a sharp turn to the left, where another gallery of wider and more comfortable section places us in an easy-access crawlway; on the other side the gallery continues with identical characteristics until it becomes obstructed by blocks.

Storia

In November 1948, a group of members (Llopis, Thomas, Montoriol, Termes and Vicens) of the recently created GES of the Club Muntanyenc Barcelonès visited a series of cavities in Pallejà that they generically called Forats de la Presa d'Aigua, but they give no further detail. From the GES activity sheet we know more, since the name of each of the visited cavities and their development are detailed, namely: Forat Petit (-6 m); Forat Pla (10 m); Forat del Caos (-14 m); Avenc Estret (-10 m) and Avenc del Diable (-25 m). Nothing more is known, but we suspect that one of them, (perhaps the Avenc del Dimoni) is the one we now know as Escletxa nº 2 de les Rovires.

For years there is no further news, although occasionally notes of activities from some speleological groups appear that mention the Forats de la Presa d'Aigua. They do not know when, someone renamed the cavity as Cova Meva, the graffiti at the entrance is still preserved.

In 1974, Joan Pallarès, Xavier Bellés and other companions begin to catalogue the cavities of this sector of Pallejà and which years later would be published in Gours-10. It is then that the name Escletxes de les Rovires appears.

In 1989 Antonio Asensio and Pedro Valdepeñas begin to review all the known cavities, surveying them again and documenting others that were unpublished.
