Caratteristiche

Località

The group of rock shelters is located in the Racó d'Aiguadonzella (el Port).

From the Raval de Cristo, in Tortosa, take the TV-3421 road towards the Mas dels Barberans. After a few kilometres, a track on the right passes the xalets de les Crevetes and, following the camí de Parellades, crosses the Canal de Xerta-Sénia and, continuing on the right along the barranc de la Garrofera, along a narrow path, passes the very narrow pont de Covalta and heads SW along a track between fields, to a good esplanade on the left of the path where the car can be left.

From here you must follow the path that goes up the barranc de Covalta, pass a tancat de bou and, further on, on the left, there is a turn-off to the mas de Xacó which must be left, and continue climbing towards the barranc de Conca in the direction of Aiguadonzella. First you come to the Gran Balma and a little further on the Balma Corral, ending at the beautiful spot of Aiguadonzella where the la Cova of the same name is located.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Both the Gran Balma and the Balma Corral are simple rock shelters, at the foot of a cliff and of very little depth. The la Cova d'Aiguadonzella, the most interesting, is also a large rock shelter that goes a few metres inwards.

We do not have more specific data, nor a survey.

Storia

Certainly known since remote times, although due to their little speleological interest they had not been mentioned until 2019 during a hiking route.
