Descrizione

Morfologia

The cavity presents a slightly subrectangular shape in the only habitable room, at least usable with a certain comfort. This room has maximum axes of 11 by 12 metres. From the far left sector of this room starts a gallery of small dimensions and a maximum practicable length of about 8 metres, in a N direction. Formerly, the aforementioned room was the most usable sector of the cavity and one accessed it from beneath a wide visor, collapsed in the late Bronze Age, and, beneath which opened a mouth that currently presents 10 metres in diameter and 3.2 metres in height.

Storia

Known since time immemorial by the people of the region. It had been occupied by different settlers from the Neolithic until the 17th century, which caused many upheavals in its interior, detected during the archaeological excavations. It was not occupied again until the time of the Spanish Civil War by the so-called emboscats and a few years later, already in the post-war period, it would be a hiding place for republican elements infiltrated and resistant in Francoist territory, the maquis. It is at that moment that the cavity will take its current name.
