Località

It is the same route as the one to the Avenc del Torrent Negre. Leaving Coll de Nargó along the L-511 road, shortly before reaching the coll de Bóixols there is a turn-off to the left that leads to Gavarra and which must be followed for a little more than 2 km, where a track branches off to the right towards the coll de Corrobiu. From here it continues in a S direction and a little more than 1 km from the coll another track branches off, in very poor condition and liable at some point to be closed. It must be followed to a bend where a ridge of the slope begins that descends steeply towards the Rialb and parallel to the torrent Negre, and quite far down is the pit. Once here the cliff must be followed westwards until finding the passage that allows us to descend to a lower platform and continue until finding the mouth of the cave.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The mouth is almost blocked by boulders, which makes it a very sheltered refuge. Just on entering, the large block at the entrance is propped from inside with a dry-stone wall. Once past the subvertical entrance passage, one enters a wide and high chamber. At its end there is a short and small final gallery.

At the west end of the entrance wall there is a very sooty corner with ashes on the ground that seems to be where they cooked. Inside there are three corners that seem to have been arranged to make a bed. At the foot of one of the beds there is charcoal from a fire having been made there, and there is also a pile of firewood.

Storia

Located by Josep Guarro in December 2021 during the visit to the nearby Avenc del Torrent Negre. In November 2022 members of the Espeleodijous visit it again while carrying out the cataloguing work. Despite being a cavity unrecorded in speleological catalogues, it seems that, like its neighbour, the Canya de l'Óssa cave, it served as a hiding place for local people, very possibly during the civil war.
