A 19-metre-long cave in Sant Pau d'Ordal (Subirats), rectilinear with a low ceiling, formed along a bedding plane.

Caratteristiche

Località

In the municipality of Subirats, from the N-340 road, on reaching this village take the first street on the right (carrer de Can Rosell); at the end of it, where the houses end, continue to the right; after about 40 metres keep to the track on the left; after 70 metres you reach an esplanade from which several tracks lead off; take the one on the right that heads towards can Mata del Racó; on the hill immediately above the house there is a fault that brings the limestone into contact with the underlying marls; the throw of this fault is about 10 metres; on the upper fault block is the cave entrance, hidden by a fig tree that has grown from about 2 metres inside the cave.

Descrizione

Morfologia

It is a rectilinear cave 19.5 metres long with a low ceiling; it is formed along a bedding plane, and at 3.50 and 7.50 metres from the entrance there are three small conduits filled with sediment.

Storia

The first exploration of which there is a record was carried out by members of the now-defunct SIRE of the Unió Excursionista de Catalunya (Horta), on 18 July 1969.
