Descrizione
Morfologia
The entrance (5 x 1.5 metres) is open in the middle of the crag and has two mouths, of which only the lower one is accessible. The gallery at its start is of medium dimensions and already descends, an inclination that predominates throughout the cavity. At 18 metres the dimensions diminish, forcing one to pass through seated. Some 15 metres later, the gallery gains in height though not in width, and 10 metres further on we find two large blocks fallen from the ceiling, after which one reaches a chamber formed by the main gallery and two ascending branches. Then the cave continues through a bedding plane, in which the gallery bifurcates. On the left we find a descending branch that forms a right angle with the main gallery followed so far; at the end of this gallery, which is wide and very low, there are two narrow galleries, completely blocked by formations. The other gallery of the bifurcation continues in the same direction as the main gallery, giving way to a chamber where the direction of the cave changes noticeably. One descends a completely smooth ramp, reaching the final part of the cavity. On the left there is a small chamber; on the right one descends by another ramp to the bottom of the cavity.
Concrezioni
In the small chamber on the left is the largest formation of the whole cave, a column more than 3 metres high.
Idrologia
The section of the gallery clearly shows the passage of water. From the two narrow galleries at the end of the wide and very low gallery a strong air current emerges.
Progressione
At 18 metres one must pass through seated. One descends a completely smooth ramp and, on the right, another ramp to the bottom of the cavity.
Altri dettagli
The authors of the original record place the cavity in conglomerates. Having consulted the geological map of the area, they indicate that the materials are limestones and shales from the Devonian.
Storia
Known since time immemorial by the people of the region. The first exploration was carried out by members of SIE – CEA on 1 March 1970, who surveyed it, although they did not come to see the branch on the left of the low gallery with a ceiling (unpublished survey). During Holy Week of 1976 members of ERE – CEC, without being aware of the previous visit, explored it fully and surveyed it.
