Località

Tiny cavity of clastic origin in the Irgo area (Alta Ribagorça).

We can access it via the road from Pont de Suert to Gotarta, and then to the ermita de Sant Salvador. We can also arrive from the L-500, past Coll, taking the road that leads to Irgo.

Once at the ermita de Sant Salvador, if we have a 4×4, we would continue along a dirt track in not very good condition, which heads towards the serra de Corona. At 1.6 km a turn-off to the right, and 400 metres further on brings us very close to the cave.

If we do not have an off-road vehicle, we would walk along the same track, from the ermita about 600 metres, and then climb diagonally through the woods, towards the collet that can be seen at the roca de Corona; this option would be about 40 minutes of walking.

From this col, on our left we would already see the rocks under which we would find the cave. It is hidden among the vegetation.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Small cavity formed under boulders, located in a very clastic area, near the contact between limestones and conglomerates.

The entrance is 1.9×1.7 m, the ceiling is low, varying between 1.5 and 0.5 m.

On the ceiling a couple of openings to the outside can be seen, produced by the fissures between the embedded boulders.

Progressione

After 6 metres we find a very narrow little exit to the outside.

Storia

Catalogued by the GE Badalona in July 2019 during one of the visits to the nearby Forat de la Corona, which since 1985 has been catalogued as Forat d'Irgo.
