Caratteristiche

Località

At kilometre 16 of the C-1311 road, we find the turn-off that leads from Fígols de Tremp to the castell de Mur; just in front of the junction that enters Vilamolat de Mur there is an information panel. From here the old drove road that climbs to Meüll sets off. Just after rounding the village water tank, a track, closed with a chain, begins on the left and leads towards the Roca de la Quadra.

Descrizione

Morfologia

An elongated rock shelter with a mouth 28 m wide. From the mouth to the back it is 9 m. The floor is completely flat and the ceiling descends as we go in.

Progressione

Before crossing the barranc de la Quadra the track reaches the level of the base of a crag that we will already have noticed. We go back along a path that begins on the right and, following the base of the crag, after a short while we will find the rock shelter.

Along the entire outer edge of the rock shelter there are the remains of an old dry-stone wall.

Storia

Used until the 50s of the 20th century as a sheepfold for livestock.

In 1938 it served as a refuge for the inhabitants of Vilamolat de Mur to protect themselves from the fascist bombings over the Conca de Tremp.
