Descrizione
Morfologia
In the middle of a limestone hill among blocks we find the entrance at the lower part in the form of a large rock shelter 20 metres wide, 3 high and 18 metres deep which, in other times, had served as a livestock pen.
As it is a tectonic cavity we find various galleries and continuations at many points and one can even descend below the main hall through a couple of small pits and other chambers.
As no survey is available the data on length and depth are approximate.
Idrologia
At one point on its ceiling there is a small water drip that gives it its name.
Storia
It is not until 1927 that Josep Iglésies gives the first references to the cavity.
Members of the GIEM (Montblanc) located it by chance at the end of the 1960's and, thinking it was a new cavity, named it avenc del Mal.
Note biospeleologiche
Although a good part of the cavity is very dry, remains of the beetle Duvalius berthae have been found, and previously the Troglocharinus orcinus ssp acevedoi had been found.
