Cavity in Àger with 14.5 m of vertical drop, a gallery 20 m by 4 m and a circular opening in the ceiling.

Località

In the municipality of Àger. Along the track that runs from coll d'Ares to the summit of Sant Alís, on reaching the col before this summit, we will head north-west where the cliff is accessible, since this is the pas dels pous; descending a little along the pass we will find the upper mouth of the cave among bushes, and if we continue descending a little further we will find the entrance of the cave.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The original cavity is somewhat changed since stone walls have been built inside in order to preserve snow there. It has a gallery 20 metres long by 4 metres wide; halfway along its course the ceiling of the gallery rises up to a circular opening that gives onto the outside, having a vertical drop of 14.5 metres.

Storia

This cavity has long been known to the inhabitants of Àger since it was used since time immemorial to store ice.
