Caratteristiche

Località

From the area known as Prantzesa, reached by the vehicle track that joins the access road to the sanctuary, just about 300 metres from the Guardetxe, there is a campa with a spring, a place used as a base camp. Head West across the campa until reaching the path that runs from Atakaxar to the megalithic monument (Dolmen) "Abateko Lepoa" at 1250 metres. The small entrance of Brinkate II lies on the upper side of a doline, just in a N.E. direction, where the forest begins to appear.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The pit consists of a single shaft of about 50 metres, reached through a crack-shaped entrance of small dimensions, so its passage is somewhat discouraging. The walls of this shaft are washed and, because the entrance is small, hardly any vegetation is seen in the first metres. The shaft is wide throughout its development and at the bottom its floor is a debris cone.

Progressione

At the bottom, on the debris cone, two possible continuations can be seen. The first one taken is impassable, as it is choked with stones and even a possible dig is not considered. The other is a small joint that leads nowhere and in which the large quantity of fossils (reefal) stuck to its wall should be noted.

Altri dettagli

We begin to find some dolines without vegetation and of considerable dimensions, both in diameter and in depth. Not long after walking along this path some ruined bordas are observed. In this doline two constructions of considerable size can be seen: they are dome-shaped huts built of stone called majadas. Their use may have been shelter and dwelling for the shepherds during certain long periods of the year.
