Altri dettagli
Throughout all these Triassic conglomerate and reddish sandstone reliefs there are several other concavities of similar characteristics and some hanging on the cliffs. In the same municipality of Gavà, today in an urban area, there is another identical phenomenon known as Balma del Calamot, on the hill of the same name and beside the final stretch of the road that descends from Begues.
These types of concavities, called taffoni, were believed to be the product of wind erosion, but in reality the wind only plays a secondary role. Their origin comes from a chemical alteration of the silica cement that gradually disintegrates the grains and gives rise to very characteristic alveolar forms; afterwards water, wind and gravity give shape to the concavity. Those of Bruguers are of very modest dimensions. They can be found throughout Catalonia and some of spectacular forms at different points in the world.
