Caratteristiche

Località

From the car park at the cova del Toll ticket office, following the same route that goes to the Balma del Gorg de les Olletes, continuing along the path for about 5 or 10 minutes more, where the torrent changes its name, we will find this beautiful spot.

To get there from the aforementioned path, we will go down a slightly overgrown little path that starts beside a small pit 1.50 deep.

Descrizione

Morfologia

A large rock shelter more than 30 metres wide, with a waterfall and its corresponding plunge pool; it also has a spring.

On reaching the shelter we observe large blocks fallen from the roof, and a completely semicircular cavity. At the back we find the entrance to a gallery through which water can be seen emerging temporarily. This opening is 0.80 metres high by 2.55 metres wide; the gallery is uniform and develops in clayey terrain, except for the roof, which is the same limestone slab as the whole shelter. At 8 metres we find a curious semicircular chamber approximately 3x3.80 metres, and 0.80 metres deep, where the water from this spring accumulates forming a puddle.

Idrologia

The spring accumulates the water in a puddle in the semicircular chamber approximately 3x3.80 metres and 0.80 metres deep. If we continue to the end of the shelter, we will find, just below the waterfall, a small space full of vegetation.

Storia

This interesting rock shelter was detected by Josep Monsonis and Xavier Samarra on an ornithological and naturalist outing on 9/08/2008.
