Small rock shelter beneath the Salt del Pou, in the torrent d'en Bià, near the masia de Fontcoberta and Ciuret (Vidrà).

Caratteristiche

Località

Right in the middle of the torrent d'en Bià, west of the masia de Fontcoberta, not far from Ciuret.

Starting from Vidrà, we will take the paved track that leads to the hamlet of Ciuret and from there we will continue until we reach the masia de Fontcoberta. Once on foot, from the masia we will take the path that heads for the torrent d'en Bià and just before arriving we will take the path that follows the torrent downstream along its left bank. At a certain point we will pass beneath some electric wires, a place where we will leave on the right a small path that in about 200 m would take us to the salt de Fontcoberta (ETRS89 coordinates 444516-4666695-1195).

Continuing along our path, we will come out of the forest and cross a meadow. A little further on we will need to leave the path on the right, and go through the forest until we reach the point where the salt del Pou is located.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The salt del Pou is a small waterfall of the torrent d'en Bià. The waterfall originated when the torrent passed over a layer of hard rock, so that in its retreat by erosion it has generated a kind of cirque with vertical walls on either side. As a result of the retreat, we find a great chaos of good-sized blocks between the walls.

In addition, it has excavated a rock shelter along the entire length of the wall situated on the right-hand side. The rock shelter is 21 m wide by 4 m deep.

In the cirque we also find some joints that form cracks that can be followed for a few metres.

Idrologia

The salt del Pou is a small waterfall of the torrent d'en Bià, generally dry except during periods of rain in which it can come down very swollen.

Progressione

The whole spot is difficult to traverse, both because of the chaos of blocks and because of the trunks and branches dragged along by the floods.
