Caratteristiche

Località

The rock shelter is located on the riera de Marfà, in Castellcir.

Although there are several routes to reach the Molí de Brotons, the one believed to be the easiest of access is given. Situated in Moià, in the Sot d'Aluies industrial estate, take the Vila-rasa path until reaching the torrent de Font Candelera; the track continues along the right bank of the torrent until arriving at a crossroads, where the torrent is crossed and one continues along the left bank of the torrent. After covering 140 metres a fork is found; one continues to the right and about 50 metres further on, at the height of the Salt Candeler, we turn right, crossing the torrent and following the path from Moià to Marfà. From here there is a long stretch of track where there is a first fork that one follows to the right; 250 metres further on, a new fork that one follows to the left until arriving at a point situated directly above the Molí de Brotons, where the path widens considerably. At this place one must turn 180º to the right, continue 50 metres more and take the path on the left; after covering about 450 metres one arrives at a fork where, to the right and a few metres further on, is found the chapel of the Mare de Deu de la Tosca, and to the left a path sets out that leads to the Molí de Brotons. A good part of this path can be done by vehicle, until arriving at a padlock that bars the way.

Descrizione

Morfologia

It is a rock shelter 7 metres deep, with a width of about 60 metres, although a good part of it is occupied by the construction of the mill.

Storia

It was inhabited and in operation at least from 1608 (when it is named Molí de Brotons o dels Pilars) until the year 1863, when there was an extraordinary flood that swept away a baby with its little wooden bed from inside the mill, and the eight people of the miller's family died there. Since then it has been abandoned.
