Caratteristiche

Località

Once past the Pleta in the direction of the Pla de Querol, we find on the right the path that leads to the avenc Emili Sabaté; once there we follow the faintly marked trail that, winding gently, brings us to the avenc de l'Amistat. From this one we descend toward the bottom of the nearby torrent where, following its bed, we will find the avenc Ramon Valls a little more than twenty metres away on the orographic right and 150 metres before reaching the junction with the fondo where the avenc Vell, Mig and dels Bessons are found. To do this route one must be equipped with the necessary gear to cross a jungle.

Another access is by going up the Fondo de Vallbona from the Rat Penat urbanisation. This begins at the roundabout of the urbanisation (plaça de l'Alcalde Güell), where we follow the street situated furthest to the right, arriving practically at the bed of the Fondo de Vallbona. In this sector it is wide and stony and one can walk through the middle; in some stretches we find a very faint trail that passes a few metres above the fondo. Further on we find the confluence with a stream that comes down from the cucona la Sibina and, once past it, one must look for a path that climbs up the orographic left and about 20 metres above the fondo and that presents some retaining walls in the middle of its course. This path leads again to the bed of the stream, near the confluence of another stream that collects all the tributaries of the area of the Bassot de l'Arbre. From here one must follow a little more than a hundred metres along the main torrent, much narrower and choked with debris, until reaching the confluence of two gullies that come down from the Campgràs. From the point where both join, one must climb in a straight line about 10 metres and the mouth of the avenc Vell is found and a little to the right the avenc dels Bessons, and still between the two we find the avenc del mig. Without losing height, we follow the more westerly gully (climbing on the left hand), where we can find the avenc del Pop (-3m) and continue straight for a hundred metres until seeing a small wall in the middle of the torrent. After overcoming it one must descend to the torrent again and climb up the other slope (orographic right) about twenty metres where we will find the mouth.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Through a mouth of reduced dimensions one enters a 74-metre pit, which begins with a narrow 8-metre conduit, at the end of which it gains width progressively thanks to a lateral concavity fully joined to the main pit. At -28 metres there is a small ledge in an ascending ramp, occupied by poorly cemented clasts and which communicates with an impassable chimney. At the base of the pit, the point of maximum depth, one can still make out the old sinkhole through which the waters drained away.

Storia

The avenc Ramon Valls, Bessons and Vell were known to Gilberto, who was the tenant farmer of the Pleta until the middle of 1964. In the early summer of 1958 this man accompanied members of the SES-Puigmal to the mouth of what would be the avenc Ramon Valls and which they fully explored on 17 August of that same year (not 1960 as is said in the Garraf catalogue). The other nearby pits were also explored by this group at the same time. As an anecdote of these explorations it was heard said that Gilberto asked the people of the SES to dedicate the deepest pit of those he had shown them to his two children who were twins. But the people of the Puigmal gave it the name of a club companion who had died shortly before and the twins were left with the second in importance; this did not please the tenant farmer, and legend says that he never told them of other pits he knew.
