Caratteristiche

Località

Recommended approach itinerary: along the C-26 road from Solsona to Berga and before reaching Navès, we see a path on the left with a sign indicating Busa (the itinerary can also be done from Cardona).

Very soon, the path turns into a well-kept unpaved track that climbs up to the coll d'Arques, where it receives on the left the track coming from the new Llosa del Cavall road. After the col we continue 2.1 km and on the right, we find the track that climbs from Sant Lleïr to the vall d'Ora. Now we only need to climb about 400 metres along a stretch with cement (grau de la Creu) and we will arrive at the top of the plateau, at 1360 metres of altitude.

To reach the Capolatell we must follow the track about 600 metres in an evident NE direction until we find a fork. The left branch descends towards the inhabited farmhouse of the Rial de Busa. We continue to the right and at 700 metres a new crossroads. To the right we would leave Busa by the track of the Rasa de Valielles. To the left, towards the N, we pass beside a pool and at 200 metres we reach the start of the short forest track that leads to the ermita de Sant Cristòfol and 500 metres further towards the W, we pass beside the Vila, an old farmhouse now abandoned that is used as a corral.

We continue 700 metres more until we find on the right a small esplanade where half a dozen cars can be parked. From this point we must walk 1 km towards the W, along a path that passes beside the rounded summit of the Capolat and descends, between forest and scrub, direct and without loss towards the Capolatell.

Here, a metal lever 8 metres long (replacing an old footbridge of trunks), allows crossing the fissure that isolates the two needles that form the Capolatell.

Just after crossing the collet that separates the two needles that form the Capolatell, we must follow the cliff 25 metres towards the NW and we find the slot giving access to the pit, in front of a very characteristic small needle attached to it.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Entrance begun with a N-S fissure that descends in a ramp 9 metres deep until reaching a small chamber with two communications with the outer walls of the needle at its W and E ends. From this point, the rest of the cavity develops clearly in a main fissure of direction O15N-E15S, parallel to those that form the pit nº 1 and the fissures 4 and 5.

At – 16 metres a first shaft of 16 metres opens that leads to an elongated ledge, formed by blocks and sediments wedged between the walls of the diaclase. From this place, at the eastern end a vertical of 27 metres is descended, narrow. After a step and a ramp the pit ends at the level – 62.

Again at the ledge at – 32, we access by the western end a P-18 that continues with a ramp and two small steps until reaching – 64 metres. Here, a narrow laminar passage gives way to the last vertical, a very narrow diaclase of 45 metres with a ledge at 35, which with many discomforts reaches, at least, 109 metres of depth.

Storia

In August 1972, two members of the ERE – CEC and one of the ACE de Mataró return to the Capolatell and descend into one of the fissures partially explored in 1967. The lack of material stops them before a shaft.

Eight years must pass until in March 1980 another group of members of the ERE – CEC return to continue the exploration interrupted in 1972 and manage to descend to – 62 metres. But at the level – 53 they sound another very narrow vertical. They return the following month of April, attaining the point of maximum depth, naming the hole avenc nº 2 del Capolatell.
