Località

From the antenna installations located at the eastern end of the Pla de Bassallacuna (track closed to vehicle access), follow in the direction of the Pla de les Solius (or Olius). Before reaching the doline that gives the plain its name (Bassallacuna), the old path branches off to the left; following it, when you reach the level of the doline there is a small path that descends in a S direction; the pit is found about 100 metres further on beside the little path.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Large entrance (12 x 5 metres) that gives access to a single shaft of 19 metres. The base is occupied by clastic materials and, in some places, by vegetation.

Altri dettagli

An excavation carried out by human hands has been superimposed on the original cavity, evidence that at some time it was used as a quarry for “sparry calcite”.

Storia

The first known speleological visit was made by members of the SES – CE Puigmal (Barcelona) at the end of the 1950s.

It should be noted that near the Bassallacuna doline and beside the path was the so-called avenc de Bassallacuna, a shaft 9 metres deep with a section of 6 x 3 metres. Around 1990, the owner of the land ordered it to be filled in with stones and rubble. It should be noted that the aforementioned owner was the mayor of Begues in 1972 and that he negotiated the land where the Joan valley rubbish dump was later installed.
