Località

Going along the narrow road that links la Plana Novella with Olivella, passing through Can Grau, the best place to park is just where the road crosses the fondo de les Conques; it is also the best point to cross the streambed and climb the left slope up to the top of a scree slope. From here you must go about 25 metres to the left to find a small rock wall, at the foot of which the pit is located.

Morfologia

An entrance of 0.80 by 1.20 metres communicates with a single shaft of almost 14 metres in depth, having an average section of about 2 metres in diameter. At its base a small corridor begins, with a slight slope and about 6 metres in length.

The entire floor is covered by small-sized clastic products.

Storia

The name avenc dels Sitgetans comes from the fact that some boys from Sitges were the ones who found it and went with those from the GES to explore it.

The first exploration was carried out on 26 January 1964 by the GES members J. de Mier and J. Nebot with Mr. J.Ossó and others, from Sitges.
