Caratteristiche

Località

From the road from Olesa de Bonesvalls to Avinyonet del Penedès one must access the Can Mitjans urbanisation and from there follow the track that, passing through the serra dels Carlins, leads to Santa Susanna. Once the descent has begun (there is a barrier), one must take the tracks that branch off to the right. One passes some croplands and turns to the bed of the riera de Begues. One continues along a wide path going around the meander of Trencaportells until reaching the S of the collet formed by the meander.

One continues downstream for some 80 metres and climbs the right-hand slope for some 10 metres of elevation gain, up to the entrance.

Today, around the entrance, there are four large pines.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Through a large entrance (approximately 7 x 3 metres) heavily covered by vegetation one enters a 9-metre shaft. Its floor, on a slope, is covered by boulders and at the lowest point, through a crawlway, one can reach a tall, narrow chimney.

Storia

Cavity discovered by chance by Miquel Vigorós and Xavier Arús (EG Santfeliuenc) in 1993. It is not known whether people in the area knew of it and what name it might have had.

It is suspected that it may be the same cavity that two members of the ERE – CEC explored on 21-12-1969 and that they named Avenc de Santa Susanna but without giving any data.
