Caratteristiche

Località

Going up the Castelldefels road (Urb. Rat Penat) to La Plana Novella, at the point where you reach Pla de Vinyals (La Pleta), you must take the turnoff for the old Garraf path. When you reach the cat and dog shelter (Canòpolis), continue straight for about 50 metres alongside the metal fence of that facility. On the right you will see a small elevation in the terrain with visible limestone bars (elevation 332.8) towards which, in a NW direction, you must head for 190 metres without a path. When you have La Pleta in front of you and a good panoramic view of the Fondo de les Coves, you will see a square painted iron post (it appears to be the marker of an old enlargement project for the nearby quarry) and a few metres from it is the entrance to the pit.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The entrance, in the form of a small funnel, begins a short ramp of blocks and earth that descends the first 2 metres of the main shaft of the cavity, which reaches an elevation of -9.4. This shaft connects laterally with a cavity with a blind vault and its base gives rise to a ramp of clastic products that ended closed at 12 metres depth and which recently, after a small clearing, has been deepened a little more than 2 metres. At the opposite end from where the final section of the ramp begins, one can still climb to an upper ledge that is the base of another small cavity with a blind vault.

Storia

Discovered and explored for the first time by members of the SES – CE Puigmal (Barcelona) around the year 1959.

Recently (2012), members of the GE de Badalona made a new survey and after a small clearing at the point of maximum depth, they were able to progress a little more than a couple of metres in depth.
