Caratteristiche

Località

To reach it, follow the track that climbs towards the Sot de la Carda along the S side of the Muronell hill, once you have crossed the fork where another track climbs up along the N side. We will walk about 600 metres until we find a crossroads on the left that descends to the torrent bed; however, it will be necessary to continue to the right for about 180 metres to the spot where we will observe a gully, which we will go up through the very dense forest (about 120 metres), crossing a rocky area and later a pine grove. The entrance is long and easy to see; inside a hackberry tree grows that makes it easier to locate.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The entrance, 13 metres long, is divided into two parts by a bedrock outcrop located approximately in the middle. The pit is structured on a very steep E-W joint, where very marked erosion forms can be observed.

Idrologia

The pit collected the waters that drain from the Muronell hill, acting as a swallow hole but with less importance than in past times. A residual cavity filled with earth and organic matter from the exterior.

Progressione

The upper part of the entrance is where the splendid hackberry tree grows that makes the descent into the cavity easier, via a very steep ramp full of leaf litter, which leads to the foot of the great fissure; it can be followed in a W direction to reach the lower entrance, where a fig tree grows. On this side the ramp is of hard and slippery rock but somewhat shorter than the previous one.

Storia

Known by the woodcutter of Sant Feliu del Racó, Mr. Josep Lleixa, he accompanied members of the SIS – CET and the GES – CMT (Terrassa), who explored the cavity for the first time on 15 September 1984.
