Caratteristiche

Località

From les Casetes d'en Julià (Vallirana) take the road that passes through the industrial area of the municipality (Can Prunera) and climbs up to the entrance of the Bassioles development (coll Correscal). Continuing along the main street (c/ Comtes d'Arruga), you pass two roundabouts and shortly afterwards you enter the ca n'Olivella development (Olesa de Bonesvalls), the street changes its name (c/ Diputació) and when the houses on the left-hand side end, at the height of carrer del Bosc del Samsó, the road turns left twice. On the straight between both bends and on the left, at the edge of the asphalt, is the mouth of the pit.

Descrizione

Morfologia

A small mouth that gives way to a 25 metre shaft, divided in two at 8 metres depth by a block wedged between a small ledge and the wall of the vertical drop. At the bottom of the shaft and at its N. end, a small subvertical conduit begins that goes down 4 metres more and where the point of maximum depth is reached.

The dominant morphology is that of corrosion, later developing a clastic process and later a lithogenic one.

Concrezioni

The lithogenic process is very well represented by parietal flowstone especially, which masks the whole middle and lower zone of the cavity.

Altri dettagli

Unfortunately, given its situation next to the road, the cavity has for years suffered an important process of degradation on becoming an uncontrolled and “invisible” dumping ground of the area.

Storia

In the summer of 1973, the resident of Olesa, Mr. Josep Olivella (alias Pep Jaques), accompanied members of the SIE – CE Àliga through the reliefs near the fondo del Molí, pointing out to them a series of cavities until then unpublished (and many of them currently disappeared due to the development, at that time incipient). One of these cavities was the one that was named avenc de la Cuneta, opened very recently by the works of opening the dirt track that went towards Olesa. The first exploration was carried out by members of the SIE on 17 July 1973. Three years later, on 14 November 1976, members of the GG Gràcia explore it and rename it with the name avenc del Catejat.

Despite the changes undergone by the road (widening and asphalting) the cavity is still accessible (2009).
