Località

In the Terranyes area, N of the Mas de Torrero (Refugi de Terranyes). A short distance behind the Mas de Paulino and near the head of the ravine.

Descrizione

Morfologia

With a rather spectacular entrance, it only allows descending a pit 7 metres deep and at its bottom, at one end, one can enter a small side chamber where the pit ends.

Storia

Discovered and explored in 1965 by members of the Agrupació Científico-Excursionista de Mataró. Hopeful because of the dimensions of the entrance, they are disappointed by the small importance of the cavity and decide to name it Avenc de l'Abort (sic) which, once normalized, should be avortó, not avortament (action and effect).

It goes practically unnoticed because of the scarce information given by its first explorers. In some routes it appears wrongly cited with the name of the nearby Avenc dels Científics, until on 23 February 2014 members of the Espeleo Club Tortosa rediscover it and are able to resolve the confusion.
