Caratteristiche

Località

If we start from the village of Navès, we will follow the road towards Solsona for about 3 km, at which point an asphalted track comes out on the right (signposted as “camí de Busa”). After a few kilometres we will reach the coll d'Arques and we will continue along the track for close to a kilometre more to leave the car at a bend to the left from where we will already see the summit of the serrat de la Guàrdia. A few metres further on, a path comes out on the left, an old abandoned track, which we will follow for a little more than 5 minutes to leave it when we take a faintly marked trail that comes out on the right-hand side. The trail heads for the grau de la Guàrdia (or de l'Areny, according to maps) which climbs over the cliff located on the western slope of the serrat de la Guàrdia. On one of the bends of the grau we will find the entrance of the cavity right beside the path. There is a flimsy fence to prevent people from falling in.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The entrance, opened in conglomerate, has dimensions of 1.7 x 0.7 m and gives way to a 7 m pit that lands on a small cone of debris. Going south, we soon reach a small chamber of almost 3 x 3 m where we can observe the rather decomposed conglomerate rock. To the north the cavity continues on a steep slope, following a joint that gradually narrows. In it a new vertical drop forms through a narrow fissure with wedged blocks that places us at the maximum depth, -16 m. Just below the entrance there is an open fissure about 5 m long by 2 m deep (“the lower fissure”) that runs in a direction parallel to that of the cavity.
