Caratteristiche

Località

On the right bank of the stream that rises at the col located N of Penyes Roges and E of the turó de la Grangela. About 150 metres from the aforementioned col and about 15 metres above the streambed.

The best itinerary is from the Begues – Plana Novella track and, once past the Carxol, follow below the power line that passes near the Penyes Roges and from there reach the col by the area that looks least overgrown with vegetation. It can also be reached from can Jaques, by a path that runs along the ridge to the turó de la Grangela and continues to the puig de les Solius.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The entrance (which had been half covered by blocks and of which, until not many years ago, one still remained, half tilting, which was removed) communicates with a first pit 23 metres deep and about 2-3 metres wide. About 3 metres above its base, through a narrow window, a blind pit about 5 metres deep can be reached.

From the base of the entrance pit, a short, low sloping gallery communicates with the second pit, 14 metres deep, with a blind dome and at the bottom of which the cavity ends.

Storia

On 13 August 1898 Font i Sagué visits the entrance and his companions, with blows of a sledgehammer, open the orifice almost blocked by blocks. The sounding of the pit gives them 45 metres and they even calculate that there could be another pit of 45 metres more (¿?), as they did not have enough material they decide not to explore it.

With these data, Rafael Amat i Carreras with his team visits it on 7 August 1924, they descend the first pit and sound 15 metres in the second, leaving the exploration for later, but they did not return.

In May 1955, members of the GES – CMB explore it completely, although we do not know whether shortly before or shortly after, those of the SES Puigmal also explored it, believing it to be an unpublished cavity and renaming it avenc d'en Josep Rovira.
