From the C17 road towards Puigcerdà we will enter the village of Sant Quirze de Besora at the traffic-light junction. We must cross over the bridge over the river Ter and at the end of the bridge, turn left onto the BV5227 road. We will cross the railway line and continue for about 7 kms., until we reach Santa Maria de Besora. Almost at the end of the straight stretch that crosses the village, we will find on the left the signposting indicating "to Ripoll via Llaés". We must take this narrow cemented track, which is in good enough condition to be driven with a car. You must be alert as the bends are very tight and we constantly find steep ups and downs. After travelling 3.5 kms. we will reach the coll de Beví; before reaching the coll we will find a track on the left, which we must follow, leaving on the left the turnings for the Beví Gros and further on that for the Beví Xic; further on the track turns towards the N, and on this stretch we will find markers that will lead us to the entrance of the great fissure where the bufadors are located.

The two entrances of the cavity are located at the upper part and to the right of the great fissure, between the TIM pit and the dels Tigres pit. Entrance no. 2 is closer to the former and entrance no. 1 to the latter.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Cavity structured on two almost perpendicular joints with an E-W and SSW-NNE orientation. Entering through the upper of the two entrances that the pit has, a small -3 metre pitch leaves us in a small chamber beneath which, between blocks, a new -4 metre vertical opens up. Immediately afterwards and through a very narrow fissure with a SSW-NNE direction and a length of 3 metres, we reach an ascending step that makes a sharp turn to the left, placing us in the gallery structured on the joint with an E-W direction. This gallery, half of whose ceiling is open to the outside (2nd entrance), runs more or less horizontally for 8 metres, after which a steep ramp descends to the -10 metre level, where, due to the narrowness of the joint, the cavity ends.

Storia

The first records of visits to one of the cavities located inside this great fissure correspond to Dr. Francesc Español, carried out in 1934 for biospeleological purposes.

In 1965 the Grup Espeleològic Terra i Mar (GETIM) of Sabadell explored the avenc dels Tigres; the avenc del TIM, the avenc Besora and the avenc del Vent.

Later the ERE of the CEC between 1977 and 1980 carried out a meticulous inventory of the cavities located in this fissure, which would be published in the magazine Espeleòleg no. 34-35.

During 1979 the Centre Espeleològic Cervelló carried out the exploration of various cavities in this fissure, with the aim that they be published in the Catàleg Espeleològic de Catalunya (Borràs-Miñarro-Talavera); this led to a new designation being given to some cavities.

The espeleoÍndex team has considered it more appropriate to use the designation of the cavities made by the members of the ERE-CEC, since it is a more complete joint work. This same line regarding the designation has been used by Jordi de Valles in the Catàleg Espeleològic de Catalunya (4).
