Caratteristiche

Località

In the Serra del Cairat, N of the Coll del Cassot.

By the C-55 road from Olesa de Montserrat to Monistrol de Montserrat, once past kilometre 7 we will turn right onto the track of the old spa of la Puda and in the direction of Can Tovella; after covering 1.37 km we will find a junction where we will keep right; after following this track in rather poor condition for 550 metres we will find a junction where we will keep left; at 800 metres, at the coll de Can Tovella, we will find a new junction which we will keep right at and at 1,330 metres, some 200 metres before reaching the end of the track where there is an electricity pylon, we will leave the track on the left in the direction of the puig del Cassot, climbing across country for about a hundred metres to the cavity.

Descrizione

Morfologia

An entrance of 2.30x1 m places us in an elongated chamber 1.30 m wide that follows the structure of the joint. Here we observe three continuations: the first is a gallery in an E direction that after an R-1.30 m of passage bifurcates; the crawl continues on the left ending 2 m further on. The right-hand branch is a fissure that cannot be passed due to its narrowness, but it can be seen that after 2 m it gives onto the roof of the lower gallery.

The second continuation is a P-8.60 m slightly inclined that is descended without difficulty to the lower gallery.

The third continuation is a P-4.30 m which once at the base heads towards the E; the gallery is 0.80 m wide and 5 m high. In the roof can be seen, at a height of 5.80 m, a narrow hole through which light enters, this being another possible access. Advancing 8 metres two continuations are found: a lower gallery that ends at 3.50 m and leaves us at -9 m depth, and an upper one that after overcoming an R+1.40 m places us in a narrow passage 0.40 m wide and 3 m high; the cavity on this side ends.

Returning to the base of the P-4.30 m we will head towards the West, climbing and descending among blocks for some 5 m to place ourselves below the entrance of the first shaft (the one of -8.60 m); one continues descending on a steep slope for some 6 m. Situated at this point the connection with the crawl described at the beginning can be sensed in the roof. At our feet a small pit of 1.50 m leaves us at the maximum level of the cavity at -14 m; in front, a short gallery between blocks some 2 m long and climbing an R+1.60 m allows us to advance 3 metres more to the end of the joint, ending with unstable blocks wedged in the walls.

Storia

It seems that the first exploration was carried out by members of the SIRE – UEC Olesa in the year 1965, but the doubt remains that the ERE – CEC had not been there some years earlier.

Those of the SIRE publish a brief article and in the text they state that the pit has a depth of 15 m, but in the deficient sketch that accompanies it and because of the scale it does not seem to reach 10 m at most.

During the work of the SIS in the years 1985-86 they give the name Avenc del Fum to a small cavity situated a little further S, and incomprehensibly they catalogue this one as Avenc d'en Llosa. We make this deduction from the topography and situation provided by members of the GE Badalona and SECEM de Manresa when in the year 2011 they visit the cavity. Moreover, inside it they find an inscription of the SIRE – Olesa and Forat del Fum. In the area of the entrance they also note another that says ERE – 8.
