Località

It is located almost on the crest that forms the watershed between the “fondo” that descends from the Pla de Querol and the Fondo de les Coves, about 30 metres above the streambed at the point where both ravines meet.

The shortest access is by leaving the Pleta towards the Campgràs and at the first bend, in a W direction, one must descend into the Fondo de Vinyals and then immediately climb out of it to descend the next “fondo” and go to find the confluence with the Fondo de les Coves. It should be noted that currently this itinerary is very difficult due to the exuberant vegetation that greatly hinders passage.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Through a wide mouth of 10 x 6 metres one enters a shaft of 22 metres with walls that are practically parallel and highly eroded.

The base is occupied by clastic materials, some of large size, coming in good part from the exterior. A slight inclination towards the SW marks the point of maximum depth at -23 metres.

It seems to be an old sinkhole of the Fondo de les Coves, currently hanging above the thalweg.

Storia

First mentioned by N. Font i Sagué in his Catàlech, indicating that it is one of the cavities that had been explored by the miners who excavated the tunnels of la Falconera, in search of possible connections. They attribute to it 20 metres of depth and with these few data it continues to appear in subsequent lists of cavities of the Garraf.

The first exploration of which we have real record carried out by cavers is in November 1956 by members of the GES – CMB.
