An active karst network in rainy weather, with a cramped entrance, a large slide, a penstock and a terminal lake.
Description
Morphology
The entrance is a small, demanding hole: you must not be too big or too tall. This leads to a low ceiling, which fortunately gains height very quickly. Note a rather large pile of gravel that you have to climb, then descend again.
The large slide measures about 6/86 [?]. What follows is spacious and easy. After a slightly narrow passage between a jellyfish and the rock, with your feet in the water, you quickly reach the bottom. The access at the top right of the concretion (jellyfish) is narrow, but allows you to go a few more metres to really reach the bottom. The VERY NARROW passage leads to the grotte de la Paulerie; few people will get through, it is VERY selective!
Speleothems
The route includes a concretion called the jellyfish, between which and the rock there is a slightly narrow passage; the access at the top right of this concretion is narrow.
Hydrology
Do not go there when it rains: even 2-3 days afterwards, the network is ACTIVE! Indeed, during heavy rain, it is not rare to see the entrance overflow. The river, usually dry, is therefore active too.
Progression
Then take the leftmost possible route (to the right leads nowhere). You will have to put your feet in the water before reaching the bottom of the large slide of about 6/86 [?]. It climbs well, but it can also be intimidating. A rope is necessary for people who are not comfortable. What follows is spacious and easy: simply follow the penstock. A few narrow branches are possible, but reserved for the most skilled. After a slightly narrow passage between a jellyfish and the rock, with your feet in the water, you will quickly reach the bottom. An obvious branch, cut into the clay, gives access to the terminal lake. A rope hangs as you enter the lake, on the left! Let us return to just before the branch giving access to the lake: you can still continue, even though the access at the top right of the concretion (jellyfish) is narrow, but allows you to go a few more metres to really reach the bottom!
Other details
Basic, but very nice!
