Le Buffarel

The entrance crawl leads to a tiny chamber cluttered with blocks. A narrow hole continues it via a P 5 dropping into a boulder-strewn gallery. After 8 m, a rock bridge allows a descent into a gallery parallel to the first, where the blocks are piled in terraces. A 4 m climb up the narrowing joint leads to an uninviting squeeze among blocks, followed by an R 2.5 and a P 5 whose very narrow start requires digging out. At the bottom of this passage several possibilities present themselves: to the right, a continuation hard to find between blocks leads to a 20 m joint that ends in a dirt pocket; straight ahead, the main gallery continues with a descent along large blocks that leads to the lowest point of the cave (-30 m) after a vertical constriction and a 5 m opposition. This place is very dangerous because it is topped by a very unstable debris cone that has already collapsed. Before descending towards the bottom, one can follow the main gallery that leads to the Salle des Racines after a 4 m climb through the blocks. Above the chamber are upward conduits, one of which comes very close to the surface.
