A small cavity at Punxa Filosa, in Rupit i Pruit, with a single passage that descends slightly and is obstructed by large blocks.

Characteristics

Location

On the western side of the village of Sant Feliu de Pallerols (Garrotxa), although by a few metres the openings lie within the municipality of Rupit i Pruit (Osona).

The Punxa Filosa area, as it is known by the local people (according to the ICGC: Puig Safilosa), has a flat slope with slight undulations, chaotic in appearance due to the large quantity of blocks, within a beech forest and slightly inclined above the clot de l'Infern.

Among the multitude of blocks there are numerous openings of all kinds of different concavities, of which the six that a priori seemed most interesting and accessible were explored. All of them located very close to one another.

Approximate coordinates that only indicate the area where the cavities are found.

Description

Morphology

Consisting of a single passage that descends slightly and is obstructed halfway along by the presence of some large blocks.

Progression

Access is via the C-153 road from Rupit to the coll de Condreu, shortly after passing kilometre 35 and at the end of the straight where a large “estelada” is painted, we will turn left to take a track that climbs parallel to the riera de Papalló in a first section, and continue climbing parallel along the torrent de Coma-Serra in a second section, we will always follow the main track until coming out at a flat area with cultivated fields, we will follow this until reaching a crossroads where an electricity line passes, we will turn left until finding a fence on the track that must be crossed and a little further on we will pass by the estany del Coll which is on our left of the track; we will continue along this until reaching a crossroads, we will follow the right for 1,100 metres until reaching a new crossroads, we will follow the left for 200 metres until another crossroads, this time we will follow the right for 180 metres until reaching the last crossroads, where we will follow the right for about 125 metres until the track ends.

History

Located around the year 1993 by some amateur naturalists from Sant Feliu de Pallerols, who in the autumn of 1994 accompanied members of the SIE – CEA who explored and surveyed the six cavities that seemed most interesting.
