Characteristics

Location

Via the Esplugafreda track, between Pont d'Orrit and Talarn. If coming from Orrit, after the Botet de Casa Rei continue onwards until reaching the height of la Roca Foradada, where we will leave the car (X: 319190; Y: 4676918).

We will head up the hill, following some old wheel ruts towards a metal plate that must be a passive repeater for radar signals.

The cave is in the cliff face that we will find before us. We will pass the andròmina on the right and continue traversing until we find the point where there are some parabolt anchors and plates and the rappel begins (X: 319406; Y: 4677340; Z: 1315 m).

Description

Morphology

Single gallery about 16 m long, with a rounded section that loses diameter as one advances. The vestibule allows us to stand upright but the sediments soon fill the gallery.

The sediments that have been removed have a height of 30 - 40 cm; there are some stones but almost all the material is a very fine dust.

Progression

The rappel is about 30 metres, but a 60 m rope is needed. There are spits and parabolt anchors; at each re-rigging we must keep deviating to the right, we did this to protect ourselves from falling stones.

At first a channel was started to pass through lying down, but whoever advanced pushing the material aside had a very hard time; afterwards progress has been made by emptying the entire width of the gallery.

Other details

The vestibule was quite full of dry excrement, they almost looked like stones. A single bone was found and on top of the sediments, there was a piece of worked wood.

This is the problem that slows the work: one only needs to disturb the sediments a little and a cloud of dust forms that makes it impossible to breathe, despite the masks.

History

Visually located by Jordi Perera and Úrsula Garrido in 2010. After 7 years they returned with other companions from Espeleodijous and proceeded to explore and carry out various days of clearing work.
