Characteristics

Location

From the junction of streams that is on the way to the avenc de Sant Roc, take the one that heads more toward the SW and follow it up for about 260 metres. At this point, in the very middle of two small torrents that descend the right slope, is the Avenc Joan Cabeza. The Cova del Pit Roig is about 40 metres further to the E, on the more easterly torrent.

Description

Morphology

At the bottom of a small depression a short gallery begins, slightly descending and 8 metres long. At the bottom of the gallery the ceiling suddenly rises, forming the final chamber.

History

Probably known for a long time, but no one had ever given the slightest information about this small cavity. Members of the SES – GER (Sant Pere de Ribes) and GE Badalona visited and surveyed it on 12 February 2012 and, for lack of further data, named it Cova del Pit Roig.

Later we learned that years ago Lluís Muntan had also located it and at that time called it Cova del Corniol.
