Description
Morphology
A circular entrance leads into a short gallery with a smooth floor and about 4 metres of passage; this connects with a low-roofed chamber with a rising floor, accessible by means of a short step. At the end of the entrance gallery, on the right, we find a gallery of reduced dimensions along which one can advance a few metres to the entrance of an impenetrable shaft where -6 metres of depth have been probed.
History
The first news we have of la Cova is from the beginning of 1974, within a series of explorations carried out by Joan Pallarès, Xavier Bellés and others in this area of Pallejà. They call it Cova de les Pedreres Velles. They also speak, without visiting it, of a second cova penjada on the crag, next to the other and to its right, which seems to be of little importance, the Cova nº 2 de les Pedreres Velles (See photo with the two entrances).
A year later, in 1975, members of the ERS – AEEF (Barcelona) visit la Cova again, and without having news of the previous exploration, they name it Cova del Tub, in reference to an iron tube that was on the wall of the abandoned quarry.
We do not know why, in 1984 it appears catalogued as Cova del Cingle de Cal Duró, keeping the other two names as synonyms.
Towards the end of the 1980's, a group of hikers locate in this sector a cave with archaeological remains that is subsequently excavated by archaeologists and they name it Cova de la Guineu. At first it is thought that it might be the same cavity, there is even someone who has painted Cova de la Guineu inside it, but in the archaeological heritage record they detail that it is a rock shelter of 4 x 5 m. On the ICGC map it appears recorded at this same point and as Cova de la Guineu. Without being certain, we think that in this same sector there are three caves, but it would have to be verified.
