Characteristics

Location

In the municipality of Collbató. Leaving Collbató in the direction of the Vinya Nova, along carrer de Pau Bertran i davant del nº 61, on the right, turn along carrer de la Drecera and at its end begins the so-called drecera de Fra Garí, which climbs the right slope of the torrent de la Fontseca or de Santa Caterina. Further on, the drecera dels Graus is left on the right and about 150 metres further on one reaches the so-called cadira de Garí, from where there is a magnificent view (from this point we can see the cova Gran on the other slope of the torrent). A faint path that leaves on the right leads in a few metres to the cova de la Codolosa.

On the South wall there is a short gallery with a partition that leads to a water deposit.

Hydrology

On the South wall there is a short gallery with a partition that leads to a water deposit.

Other details

Rock shelter formerly fitted out as a beehive shelter. Many years ago it had been used for forestry, hence it is also known as Cova de les Arnes.

History

Cavity known since time immemorial and mentioned in all the speleological catalogues of Montserrat. It had never been the subject of a documented record. The first survey we know of is the one carried out by members of the GE Pedraforca in April 1972 and until now unpublished.
