Tiny cave with a 12-metre passage in the municipality of Camarasa, an ancient fossilised spring with a 12.5-metre passage divided into two inner conduits.

Characteristics

Location

The cavity is located at the base of the upper crag of the Mont-Roig range, on the same stratification plane where the cova del Tabac and the cova de l'Il·luminat are situated.

To reach it, follow the path that from the Camarasa reservoir climbs up to the cova del Tabac. When the path reaches the point where a small rise must be climbed to continue towards the cova del Tabac and where the mouth of that cave is already visible, continue onwards along the trail, which continues fairly flat with small variations in gradient. After a few hundred metres we will see an enormous diaclase in the wall of the Mont-Roig; it begins at the upper part of the massif and descends to the base of the upper crag. At this point is the cova de l'Il·luminat. From this point, once situated at the base of the crag, we must head towards the cova del Tabac but without leaving this level; after a few metres we will see a small rock needle parallel to the crag, and we must climb between the needle and the crag.

Description

Morphology

It is an ancient fossilised spring. The cavity has a 12.5-metre passage, dividing inside into two conduits.

Progression

At this point a 20-metre rope must be rigged to descend to the mouth of the cave.

Other details

The decalcification process means the floor is covered with a very fine dust that produces a cloud of this dust if you move around too much.

History

When it was explored by the SIE, the cavity showed signs (paint marks) of having been visited, probably by climbers.
