Characteristics

Location

Along the C-26 road, at kilometre 119.5, we find the pont d'Aigua d'Ora; we will turn off in a N direction until we reach a bridge that crosses the riu d'Aigua d'Ora, shortly before reaching Sant Lleïr. Before crossing the bridge we will continue to the left along an asphalted track until we reach a crossroads where the asphalt ends; we will continue to the right until we reach a pool where we find parking, just above the Pujol de la vall d'Ora.

Description

Morphology

The rock shelter is about 30 metres wide, a little over 3 metres high and 8 metres at its deepest point. It is oriented S and has a stone wall at the front, with some divisions to the E.

Progression

We will cover 175 metres of track and continue to the right along a path that turns into a trail and goes into the gully, zigzagging in search of the best way to overcome the grau d'Orriols. Further up we will pass through an area of travertine with a small spring, and at the top of the gully we will come out onto a forest track, which we will follow to the left. The spot is a small ledge that forms a balcony over the vall d'Ora. On reaching the masia d'Orriols, after passing a corral, we will follow a small path to the right, which will gradually gain height in a NW direction. When we reach the wall of the cliff, we must turn back to follow along the side of the crag and we will see the rock shelter in front of us.

History

Known in the area since time immemorial.
