Description
Morphology
The rock shelter has an irregular outline. Of the whole flat area (some 370 square metres), half is sheltered by the rock shelter, while the other half remains outside the shelter. The stratification of the geological materials is clearly visible on the walls and roof of the rock shelter.
At the northern end, the rock shelter connects with a vertical ascending fissure that communicates with the outside through openings that we see a few metres above our heads.
Hydrology
In a corner at the back of the rock shelter we find the spring, built of stone and with a tap. In the lower part of the wall we find the entrance to a water gallery, closed by a grille. The gallery, very well built, has a length of 6 m and at its end we see a tap, a small basin and some hoses.
Other details
Rock shelter located in a shady spot, surrounded by forest. The surroundings have been modified by the hand of man to make it more welcoming. In this way, retaining walls were built to achieve a fairly flat space which, together with the existence of a spring (called de la Baronessa), has created a relaxing and pleasant spot, suitable for gatherings. In this spot we also find a stone table.
History
Known since time immemorial. A legend of loves, infidelities and revenge is known about it.
The GE de Mollet visited it in 1976 during its campaigns of cataloguing the cavities of the Cabrerès and Guilleries. Inexplicably they only surveyed and catalogued, as Cova de la Baronessa, the inner area of the rock shelter where the small fissure that emerges outside develops.
In May 2018, members of the ECM Barcelonès and GE Badalona carried out a documented study of the whole complex.
