Characteristics

Location

From Mont-ral we will follow the camí de la Foradada that passes through the Serrat dels Avencs. Once we reach the avenc de l'Os, we will go to the left of the path heading S10E for 22 metres, where we will find the main entrance of the cavity. From this entrance, if we head NE, at 8 metres distance we will find the second entrance, much narrower than the previous one.

Description

Morphology

Within a fracture half-blocked by boulders there are two entrances; one is a very narrow passage in the form of a cave, but which opens into a pit that drops into the deepest part of the diaclase. The other entrance gives rise to a pit of just over 6 metres, through which one accesses a gallery descending in both directions.

Progression

Towards the E, it descends to – 14 and one can still advance a few more metres over some boulders where it becomes impassable. Towards the W, the slope is steeper and the fissure gradually narrows until the passage becomes impossible.

History

Like many of the pits in this sector, we do not know when and who carried out the first exploration. Josep Iglèsies in his guide to the muntanyes de Prades (1930) speaks of the numerous fissures found in the area, but does not give names. We imagine that this cavity must have been explored by speleologists from Reus around the beginning of the 1960s and was named after the married couple who gave the house to the Centre de Lectura de Reus to make the refuge in Mont-ral that bears the name Musté-Recasens.
