Location

From the W of Albinyana an asphalted track sets out that in little more than a kilometre climbs up to the castle of l'Esquernosa and the chapel of Sant Antoni de Pàdua. The pit is located 131 metres at N15E from the avenc dels Joans. If we follow the path that from the chapel climbs to the puig de Sant Antoni and passes by the avenc dels Joans, on reaching the geodetic vertex of the puig de Sant Antoni, we will head E30N for 90 metres without a path and through the middle of a holm oak wood, the cavity is hidden under a large palmetto (chamaerops humilis).

Description

Morphology

By way of small sloping galleries one reaches some concavities of more vertical development, with steps and small pits among a chaotic set of rather unstable blocks, until reaching the lowest point of the diaclase located at -43 metres of depth.

History

It was discovered and explored by members of the SES of Club Esquí Puigmal during the 1970s, after a fire that occurred in the serra de Bonastre.
