Characteristics

Location

Leave the village of Castell de l'Areny by the forest track that leads to the chapel of Sant Romà de la Clusa; halfway up the crag visible to the N of the village and after a scree slope, a path emerges that goes to the foot of the wall, specifically to a large triangular dihedral, at the highest point of which the pit is found. To reach this point, one must climb, by the right or left of the dihedral, some 80 metres of height.

Description

Morphology

It is a large fissure opened in the same direction as the outer dihedral, thus forming the pit, with the two lateral branches always in the form of a joint, both ending at -38 metres of depth.

Progression

To reach the -21 level one must scramble down until finding the aforementioned galleries. The one running E, after some narrow passages and small steps, reaches -38 metres. The one running O begins with a 20-metre pitch, and at its base continues along a narrow 70-metre-long joint, thus reaching the maximum depth of the pit, at -65 metres.

History

Discovered and explored by the GIEG of the Agrupació Excursionista de Granollers in 1979.
