Characteristics

Location

From the doline of Campgràs, we will head towards the Benjamí Digón pit; from there we will continue east passing by the Anna Svacbroc pit, quite visible due to a large cairn painted with blue stripes (data from 2009). Next we will go in a south-easterly direction until we position ourselves at the start of the slope from where we will make out a small hill at the end of the incline in the direction of the fondo de Vallbona. Before reaching the small hill, there is a col; the cavity is located 165 metres before reaching the col and almost touching the ridge where the slope of the fondo that lies to the east begins, which is the same fondo de Vallbona, which turns north after the aforementioned hill, climbing back up in the direction of the head.

Description

Morphology

The entrance, approximately 3 metres in diameter, gives way to a shaft 28 metres deep. At 13 metres we find a narrow window which, once passed, places us at the upper part of a dome. As we begin to descend it, we will observe how the shaft widens until we are situated in the middle of a heavily decorated shaft that is 38 metres in total. Once at the base, a steep slope of stones leads us to a passage that ends at -60 metres.

Speleothems

The shaft is heavily decorated.

History

In 1957 members of the GES discovered and explored the single 24-metre shaft. In 1986, during the GES course, one of the course participants discovered halfway up the shaft a small hole on a decorated wall; a few weeks later the hole was widened and allowed access to the new part of the cavity. The explorers' surprise increased on finding human remains at the bottom, which after contacting the Museu de Paleontologia de Sabadell and later the chair of legal medicine of the Universitat de Barcelona only served to determine that it was a single individual aged between 25 and 30 years and that the bones were older than 30 years. It therefore remains to be resolved by which point the bones or the person accessed the bottom of the cavity.
