The cavity is rather a fissure in a rocky outcrop with veins of copper carbonates (Azurite).

Reference Príncipe de Viana 88-89/419. The cavity was used as a collective burial crypt. It was first discovered in 1958 by a miner from Urbiola, who named it with the first name of Cueva de los Hombres Verdes, since the bones found have a greenish-blue color due to the copper Salt of the cave where they were located. All the finds, both archaeological and anthropological, were deposited in the Museo de Navarra in Pamplona.
Storia
The aforementioned cavity was the subject of study and archaeological research by the Institución Príncipe de Viana; the discovery and excavation of a burial crypt took place in the month of September 1958, directed by D. Juan Maluquer de Motes and with the collaboration of D. Domingo F. Medrano and D. Rafael Blanco Caro. In 1958, Príncipe de Viana; Dr. D. Miguel Fuste Ara (Laboratory of Anthropology of the University of Barcelona). In 1962, D. Juan Maluquer de Motes, D. Domingo F. Medrano and D. Rafael Blanco Caro investigated. Archaeology: human remains and pottery.
