A network of galleries with a high CO² content, where exploration stops at about -50 behind a sand sump.
Descrizione
Morfologia
A slot entrance (3.2 x 1.4 m) leads to the Tubar gallery via a 1.5-metre step hidden under a thick layer of dead leaves. Of good size at the start, the gallery turns into a wide bedding plane (6 m) after about fifteen metres and ends in a blockage.
Before the bedding plane, on the right-hand side, a sandy passage opens into the Attente gallery after a 3 m step. Upstream, a fifteen-metre crawlway ends at a boulder choke at -3.7 beneath the surface stream. Downstream, the gallery, inclined along the dip (about 20°), oriented SSW, is well formed: 4 to 6 m wide and 2 – 2.5 m high. After 4 metres it turns into a crawlway blocked by pebbles at -28. In its first third, the gallery splits to reach twelve metres in width.
A 4 m bedding plane, located at the start of the Attente gallery on the right, reaches the 2ème jour gallery, parallel to the previous one. Of constant section (2 -2.5 m wide and 2 m high), the gallery, which has a short upstream section, is progressively filled in by sand that completely blocks the passage at -23.
Before the sand sump, at the bottom of a small funnel, the Escane gallery begins. About 90 metres long, it consists of a succession of steps with sumping low points and inclined bedding planes. The floor is covered with large sandstone pebbles. The gallery has been followed to about -50, behind a sand sump where the massive presence of CO² stopped exploration.
Altri dettagli
The presence of carbon dioxide (CO²) in high proportion makes the visit dangerous; turn back at the first breathing difficulty.
