Account of the first exploration of the trou de la Cochette, from the narrow opening at the foot of a fir tree to the junction with the P28 of the Puits Francis at elevation -155.
Descrizione
Morfologia
The opening of the trou de la Cochette is narrow and opens at the foot of a fir tree. After a short widening comes a mini meander (60 X 30) that descends following the dip. After a few metres, one emerges at the top of a small bell-shaped pit. Three metres lower opens a pit of about 40 metres; opposite its opening, a low inclined gallery leads to a 2-metre step that gives onto a chamber. From there, a broad descending meander ends at -26 m with a clay fill. The pit is in reality a deep meander; the meander descends by successive steps to the top of a 30-metre pit. Halfway down the P28, a window gives onto a parallel 12-metre pit that connects lower down with the same P28; opposite the window, at the top of this 12-metre pit, a meander climbs back up to the base of an 8-metre pit.
Progressione
I enter the narrow opening. After a short widening, one must slip into the mini meander (60 X 30). After a few metres, I emerge at the top of the small bell-shaped pit, which is descended in "oppo". There remains the P40 to descend: it is necessary to pendulum after 12 metres to shift away from a zone of unstable blocks. One last descent on rope and I set foot on flat ground; I then recognise the P28 of the Puits Francis, which I have reached at elevation -155 (depth relative to the highest entrance).
Altri dettagli
I had come to retrieve gear at the entrance of the puits Francis, I set out to look for it, and off for the first.
Storia
We had explored the passage called "méandre des goulottes" in 1970, climbing two 8-metre pits to stop in front of a boulder choke that should correspond to the one found in the prairie's sinkhole.
