Cavity located at the bottom of a doline, with an entrance in an N-S joint and an active vertical development reaching -264 metres.
Descrizione
Morfologia
The head has dimensions of 15 metres long by 10 metres wide. A new 10-metre vertical drop gives access to a gallery of 10 x 10 metres, which is the end of the vertical zone. Located at -200 metres depth, this gallery descends rapidly. The gallery, in its middle section, ends in a meander of reduced dimensions and difficult progression. After a distance of 200 metres, it opens into an active gallery, giving way to a fully horizontal conduit of 400 metres, which ends in a sump without any break at 1,159 metres from the entrance and -264 metres of depth.
Concrezioni
Already at the base, and after a 5-metre shaft, the cavity acquires great beauty, sculpted by water in a descending gallery with gours amid meandering forms, the result of the dissolution of the limestone rock. The gallery, at -200 metres depth, descends rapidly over majestic flowstone and large gours produced by the great circulation of water. In its middle section, it has flowstone and gours.
Idrologia
First the stream sinks into a succession of short shafts. All the verticals are active, being the natural passage of the water. In the active gallery there is a low sumping passage in a laminar flow, about 20 metres long (watch out for floods). On a hypothetical descent into the cavity, the proper safety measures must be taken regarding the risk of a sudden rise in flow.
Progressione
First the stream sinks into a succession of short shafts (8, 7, 8 and 7 m), after which a 120-metre vertical drop appears. Already at the base, and after a 5-metre shaft, one continues along a descending gallery. A new 10-metre vertical drop gives access to a gallery of 10 x 10 metres. The flowstone and gours of the middle section of the gallery are passed by rope progression. After a distance of 200 metres, one emerges into an active gallery with a low sumping passage in a laminar flow about 20 metres long, which gives way to a fully horizontal conduit of 400 metres.
Altri dettagli
The recent massive fall of sheep leaves the cavity in an impassable state.
