Caratteristiche

Località

To reach it, start from kilometre 8 on the limitaciones road, at a crossroads, and take the track heading South. Follow the track to the pass as far as the barrier and iron gate. Taking the path to the Ermita de San Benito, which climbs the sierra, continue across a long hollow until you come to a fork in the paths; take the left-hand one, heading West, and the entrance lies about 150 m from it.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The entrance to the cavity lies at the bottom of a doline measuring 10 x 7 m, with a drop of about 8 m, which leads to a chamber measuring 30 x 15 m. It has a water current and a narrow NW-SE gallery, which leads to another, larger chamber with a lake in the centre. The cave was formed for the most part by a collapse process.

Concrezioni

Throughout the cave there are many and very varied lithogenic formations. Also very noticeable are the damage caused by visitors to all the groups of stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the pollution of the cave itself; in the largest chamber there are many destroyed stalactites.

Idrologia

There is a water current and a lake in the centre of the largest chamber.
