Vertical pit 40 m deep with about 300 m of galleries in Iribas, with a large entrance, carbonate chambers, an eroded riverbed and a final lake closed by a sump.
Descrizione
Morfologia
The pit has a large entrance and a depth of 10 m, continuing afterwards through horizontal galleries. At 25 metres from the entrance there is a large accumulation of rounded pebbles. Once past this, one enters a wide chamber 50 m long by 15 wide, whose floor is full of large blocks. There are heavy tree trunks embedded among the rocks and at a great height. One continues through a narrow passage that opens onto a stepped section with stalagmitic formations and tours, which are arranged over an extent of 45 m in length by 12 in width. Further on, the cave takes on large proportions: 40 metres long by 50 wide and 30 high. The floor has an inclination of 35º. The total depth is 40 metres and it has a network of galleries of about 300 m.
Concrezioni
The wide chamber has a large coating of carbonates. The stepped section has stalagmitic formations and tours. The area of large proportions is covered with carbonates.
Idrologia
It continues along a riverbed where great swirling erosion can be seen and whose floor is covered with rounded pebbles; this riverbed has a length of 100 m and an average width of 5. At the end of the route one reaches the shore of a lake of 16 m by 25 and a depth of 6. About 25 m from this, in the left side wall, a conduit has its origin, 5 metres long by 2 wide and 2 high, with smooth walls of recent formation, a large number of leaves and branches being found in a good state of preservation. At the end of this tube there is a closure in a sump.
Progressione
To reach the area covered with carbonates it is necessary to descend a 10 m vertical. The route continues through a narrow passage, a stepped section, a riverbed and ascends in level to that area, to end at the shore of the lake.
